Be able to make the text larger.

Some of us are struggling to read the text,so it would be nice to set a text size minimum,or be able to have a magnifying glass that could be invoked and moved across the relevant area.

Hey, update the app to the latest version 3.0 and enjoy vector maps with font size setting.
---
It's easy to change the default size for labels on map from medium to small or large, depending on your preference.
Readable and larger texts on map are extremely useful while driving and for people with low vision.

Disable the reorientation feature

As I rotate the iPhone, it points towards north again. What I'd like is to turn it so the vehicle's progress is 'forward' and I can match left and right to the map.

Hi, please have a look at 'compass' mode in the app, where the map automatically rotates based on the phone's compass. Tap twice on the "my location" icon to activate this mode.

How do you feel about it?

How do I import one of my Google Maps with all of the "bookmarks"?

I have created many google maps where I save favorite restaurants etc. How do I import that to Galileo? I can't seem to find directions for that.

* choose Open in Galileo.

As I use various (downloaded) maps from different parts of the world, it is presently almost impossible to locate these maps, as there is no bookmark feature. Please, please implement the possibility to quickly find different maps. Thank you!

The downloaded maps I use were created with "Mobile Atlas Creator" using "Google Maps" as the Map source and "RMaps SQLite" as the Altlas setting format. After the maps were created I imported them into "Galileo Offline Maps" (in iTunes) using its...

Hi, we are glad to inform you that the new version 2.4.1 introduces a new easy way to jump to map for offline area — just tap the green arrow pointing in the direction of an offline map and app immediately shifts to it. Hope you will like it!

P.S. Bookmarks will be available soon definitely. :)

Use '+' and '-' buttons to go through zoom levels. SHOW the current zoom level.

The free Android app OruxMaps beats this hands down. Galileo needs "+" and "-" buttons for going through the different zoom levels, and we really need to SEE the current zoom level. Pinch-zoom feels worse here than "steps". If there's no...

Surely we will work on improving and extending the range of bookmark's categories, it was just a 'pilot' experiment to hear back from our users.
Cheers!

While you're just browsing map - Galileo uses tracking of significant location changes by analyzing cellular data and nearest wifi's. GPS chip did't used and it didn't drain your battery contrary it even saves charge. Also Galileo didn't subscribed for background location event's so when you're exit from application - it didn't receive any GPS data. Don't worry about that.

Screen orientation lock

The ability to lock the orientation of the screen to either portrait or landscape
Response from the site administrator
Yulia, 26.04.2012
Thank you for your suggestion, and there is a tip for you:

if you don't like iPhone’s auto-rotation feature while using Galileo Offline Map, please use the screen orientation lock option (requires 4.0+):
* tap the HOME button twice to bring the multitasking dock,
* swipe your finger to the right until you see the music control buttons,
* tap on the lock button (first in a raw).

After you enable the screen lock, the auto rotation is disabled and your screen is locked to the portrait orientation. A rotation lock icon (looks like a circular arrow around a padlock) will appear in the status bar next to the battery charge icon.

To re-enable the auto rotation, you can simply go through the steps again to turn off the lock.

That's right. OpenstreetMap servers is overloaded. So they blocked tile downloading software. You could use Google Maps source for that.
Or you could use any another source following guide from Mobile Atlas Creator wiki http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/mobac/index.php?title=MapEvaluator

Edit or add my own map sources, exactly the way MOBAC allow us to do.

In MOBAC it is possible to add or edit sources by editing a xml file. It would be nice to have simlar feature on-board of Galileo.
Response from the site administrator
Yulia, 07.01.2013
We are happy to inform you that you can add custom online map sources via XML files (the same as in MOBAC) since v2.4.

There are several ways to add custom online map source to the app. You can:
* Place the XML file in the app shared folder in iTunes.
* Open the XML file attached in Email on your iOS device using the "Open in Galileo" option.
* Open the XML file from Dropbox on your iOS device using the "Open in.." option.

Having multiple caches and the ability to add new maps is a great feature and gets round the problems I've had with similar apps when I have a lot of saved maps. However, I think you should make clear that this requires both iOS4 but also Java SE6 -1
