Notes for a collection

Most of my collections are based around individual cities, it would be great to be able to have a page of plain text that I could add notes to, that would appear in the collection list, in amongst the relevant bookmarks.

LOCK SCREEN IN LANDSCAPE MODE

Currently I can only lock it in portrait mode. Sometimes when viewing certain maps I prefer landscape mode but its annoying when the phone switches back and forth. Being able to lock to landscape mode within the app would be terrific.

Being able to display user-generated data on top of downloaded apps would make this more useful for planning and navigating.

Please check out the new version 2.1 of Galileo Offline Maps. Now it possible to import previously created KML files with both bookmarks and routes from web link, dropbox or email into the app even in free version.

Track recording, possibly in gpx and kml format, also the ability to import/export gpx and/or kml tracks.

Track recording i think it should be a must, possibly in gpx format, with exporting allowed, it should be also quite easy to implement, it's present pretty much in every gps application. Even more important is the feature to import tracks...

Download maps from within the App.

Many other offline map applications allow the user to download and save maps from within the App itself. This feature is essential for when you are traveling and need a new map. I like your current system of downloading using your desktop...

We don't have hi-red tiles for now. but at least galileo could render tiles from usual tile servers with high resolution.
Also map UI elements updated to hi-res graphics. It looks much better now for me.

Anyone need tile scale option in settings?

there isn't compass feature implemented and it's pitty in terrain orientation

We're working now on new rendering engine. It will handle rotation info from compass and it will be flexible enough to draw pins and icons for POI.

Make the pin locations editable so I can place them at an exact lat long. Very disappointed that I can't do that in a paid feature.

To move the bookmark, tap the bookmark icon and hold for a second, then drag the bookmark to where you want and drop it. (since v3.1.1).

You can search a location by its coordinates in the following format: two numerical values represent latitude and longitude separated by a comma (e.g. "48.198634, 16.371648" for Vienna).

I would like to find a way to remove an offline map that I stored, either through iTunes or directly within the application. I looked around but didnt find a way to do it. Since I uploaded several maps, I start having mem problems

Simply allow to remove an uploaded offline map, e.g. in the Cache Info menu

Add posibility to swich between "level zoom" an "digital zoom".

Very often there is need to read very small letters or signs on map. Digital zoom (without level change) would help visually impaired people

New vector maps allow to view large labels on maps. Now it's easy to change the default size for labels on maps from medium to small or large, depending on your preference.
Readable, larger text on maps is extremely useful while driving and for people with poor vision. Read more: http://galileo-app.com/

Color code a track based on elevation

It would be nice if a track was color coded with varing color. Blue could be the lowest elevation and red the highest elevation with the shading changing as the elevation changes. This could also be done with speed.

We are happy to inform you that this feature is available since v2.4. Go to Settings > Cache Info and enable the "Map Refresh" option to set how often to reload map tiles.

Add ability to zoom/pinch-pan.

I mean, when I pinch to zoom I usually move my fingers around too. Currently, Galileo only allows me to zoom from/to the center.

Display compass bearing of bookmarks from present location.

Was on an island and needed a bearing for a particular place on shore several miles away. An exact compass reading would have made a big difference. Thank you

With the current color for a GPS track, I have difficulty distinguishing between a GPS track and the roads on the map I use. With for instance the map source OpenStreetBrowser the orange color "colides" with the main roads color. My guess is that...
